A few years ago I was experimenting with the idea of “Digital Visits”. Taking people (mostly elderly) around locations and taking pictures and then back at base, making web galleries and digital maps. It was terrific. We went around communities and each time the host would prepare a bit of a guided tour.
In 2005 Middlesbrough Voluntary Development Agency (MVDA) began a “Planning For Real” consultation in Thorntree. Planning For Real is a well known and well documented process but I added a new dimension to that process – DIGITAL. The video below is all that remains of the project

Shortly after these shots the fire trucks pulled out. The area was surrounded by fire trucks I could see at least 5. We assumed therefore the danger was over but a policemen informed us that the fire trucks had been pulled back out of harms way in case the whole thing went up. I decided to head home! | |

I arrived on Teesside in January 2000 to run this project. I wrote this HTML document for a conference “Created And Connected” which took place September 13th 2001. The conference was overshadowed and affected by the events of 9/11. I was doing a live interview by telephone with BBC Tees when the interviewer suddenly said “sorry Steve, we have to go, two aeroplanes have crashed into the World Trade Centre”
